Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni Award

The Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni for their high
achievement in their professions or community service. These are alumni who have
carried the spirit of the College into the rest of the world and lived up to the
famous quotation from James A. Blaisdell which is inscribed into the gates of
the College: "They only are loyal to the college who departing bear their added
riches in trust for mankind." Recipients of this award are selected by the Alumni
Awards Committee and ratified by the Alumni Association Board.
2009 marks the inaugural year for this award.

Alumni Distinguished Service Award

The Alumni Distinguished Service Award is bestowed annually to an alumnus, alumna, or alumni in recognition of that person's selfless commitment and ongoing volunteer service to Pomona College. Inaugurated in 1991, the award has been presented to many dedicated alumni volunteers. After careful deliberation of nominations, the Committee of Past Presidents of the Alumni Association selects the recipient(s).

Inspirational Young Alumni Award

The Inspirational Young Alumni Award was established to honor a young alumnus or alumna (graduate of the last decade) in recognition of dedication, perseverance and consistency in following their vision of the inscription on the
College Gates: "They only are loyal to this college who departing, bear their added riches in trust for mankind." The winner
is invited to return to campus for a short visit to interact with students in a mutually meaningful manner.
The Alumni Office receives nominations for the Inspirational Young Alumni Award from various sources: alumni, parents, faculty and staff of the College. The
nominees' information is given to a committee of current students for their review. This student
selection committee then discusses the candidates' highlights and talents and makes the final decision.

A Call for Nominations

The Alumni Association is always seeking nominations for the following annual
awards:
NEW! The Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni
Award recognizes alumni whose contributions and achievements in their
profession or community mark them as distinguished persons even among the
distinguished body of Pomona alumni.
The Alumni Distinguished Service Award pays tribute to an alumnus
or alumna in recognition of that person’s selfless commitment and ongoing
volunteer service to Pomona College.
The Inspirational Young Alumni Award
honors a young alumnus or alumna (graduate of the last decade) in recognition of
their dedication, perseverance, and consistency in following the inscription on
the College Gates: “They only are loyal to this college who departing bear their
added riches in trust for mankind.”
