Join Sagehens in Saving the World
For some Pomona alumni, saving the world is an occupation.
For others, it’s recreation. Each fall, the entire Pomona
community has the opportunity to join forces and make a
difference during an international day of social action and
service: Pomona Outreach to the World.
October is “Make a Difference” month, and Pomona Outreach
to the World (POW!) is an opportunity to do just that. In
the past, alumni participated in seven different service
projects benefiting their communities and the environment:
building homes for low-income families, feeding the hungry,
assisting child and family services, and more. Not only do
alumni make a difference, they do it with the camaraderie of
fellow Pomona friends.
POW! was created in 1997 as a day of social action and
service for the Pomona College community. Over the years,
POW! has grown into a tradition of students and alumni
reaching out by learning and helping. Initially a
student-driven event that took place in the Los Angeles and
Claremont areas, POW! has expanded to alumni communities
across the country and world.
POW! is planned and organized by Pomona students and
alumni. In 2004, active alumni planned POW! initiatives in
Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco/the
Bay Area, and Seattle. For 2005, other alumni communities or
individuals who have an interest in POW! are encouraged to
put together projects in their own areas.

If you would like to contribute to POW! by planning a
service event for alumni during the fall of 2005, please
