Pomona College President David W. Oxtoby is heading deep into the heart
of Texas to meet alumni, parents, and friends of the College at two
afternoon receptions:

Real Estate Symposium - February 1
Co-sponsored by the Claremont Alumni Network and CGU's Drucker/Ito
Graduate School of Management, this
symposium will cover real estate
economics and development in the fast-growing Inland Empire region of
Southern California.
Two GLBT Networking Events - February 7
& 16
GLBT & ally alumni from small colleges across the country will gather to
network, see old friends, and meet new ones in a relaxed atmosphere at
two locations: in
New York on February 7 and in
Seattle on February 16.
King Lear with Martha Andresen -
February 16
Beloved Professor
of English Emerita Martha Andresen will be in Denver next month to speak
with alumni, parents, and friends on Shakespeare's classic,
King Lear, at a pre-performance dessert reception at the Denver
Center.

Cutting Edge Currency
During
his semester as a Congressional intern in 1979,
Richard Foster '80
helped send a bill to Congress to make it easier for visually-impaired
Americans to use paper money. Following a recent court ruling, his bill
may get another look.
Arctic Adventure
With her prestigious Watson Fellowship,
Laurel McFadden '06 headed
north to Canada, Greenland, and Norway (so far!) on a year-long Arctic
adventure documenting community life in Earth's northernmost reaches.

Students Work for a More Sustainable Campus
Through the "Dorm Energy Conservation Challenge,"
Pomona students are working to save electricity... and the
planet. Many have enthusiastically signed on to the effort to cut energy
usage and create a more sustainable living environment.
President Oxtoby Recognized by AAAS
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS),
the world's largest general scientific society and publisher of the
journal, Science, recently elected President David Oxtoby as an
AAAS
Fellow.

Career Week and Career Fair 2007
Alumni are invited to attend and participate in the CDO's upcoming
Career Week and Career Fair. Career Week will be held January 29 to
February 2 and will include more than 20 workshops and panels on various
career fields. Many of our panelists are local alumni who have
generously agreed to share their experience with current students. For
more information about these and other career related events, check out

Life After College
Nearly
100 Pomona College seniors recently completed a series of personal
financial planning seminars, covering everything from making a budget to
finding an apartment to saving for retirement, all in preparation for the
real
world.
