Mixing Oil and (Bottled) Water
Join Pomona College Politics Professor Susan McWilliams for a discussion of her preliminary theory of the 2008 presidential election in Phoenix on January 19, Sacramento on February 16, or Minneapolis on March 1.


Robin Price in Portland and San Francisco
Book artist Robin Price '84, who was recently featured in Pomona College Magazine, will be giving two public talks during a west coast tour. Join her and other alumni in Portland on February 3 and San Francisco on February 8.

The Machine Project - February 23
The Machine Project is dedicated to exploring the interaction of art, science, technology, music and literature. The Project's founder and director Mark Allen, a Pomona College Art Professor, will be in Santa Fe to discuss this unique space.

Soccernomics - March 8
Economics Professor Fernando Lozano will be in San Diego to speak with Pomona College alumni, parents and friends on how recent economic research explains the world's most popular sport.

Pomona Eliminated Student Loans
Further strengthening the College's long-standing tradition of accessibility, the Board of Trustees approved the elimination of loans in financial aid packages and will replace those amounts with scholarships for current and future students beginning in 2008-09.

New Buildings Certified Gold
Pomona College recently won gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program for the design and construction of the Lincoln and Edmunds Buildings.

National Champion Dancers
The decade-old Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company won the formation event for the sixth time at the National Collegiate Dancesport Championships with their Harry Potter-themed standard dance medley.

Sagehens Triumphant in the Pool
The Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo team captured its first SCIAC Championship since 1980 with a 13-10 win over the University of Redlands. This is the third SCIAC Championship in the Pomona-Pitzer program's history (1967, 1980).

The Career Development Office is finalizing plans for the annual Pomona College Career Week, January 28-February 1. During that week, we will host more than 40 alumni and other professionals who will share their experience and expertise in more than 25 career-related workshops and panels.

The 9th annual Pomona College Internship and Career Fair will be held on Friday, February 8, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Edmunds Ballroom. All are welcome to attend any of these events. Look for details on the CDO website and calendar.



Alumni Weekend Coming Soon
Alumni Weekend is fast-approaching on May 2-4. Alumni in classes ending in 3 and 8 should keep an eye out for event details and registration information in the mail next month, or check out the Alumni Weekend web site for a preliminary schedule of events and more information.
