Sagehen Celebration
A record-breaking crowd of nearly 1,500 Sagehens were on campus the last weekend in April for Alumni Weekend 2006. See who showed up, view the photo gallery or complete our brief survey.





Year-End Pomonathon – June 10
Come join an energetic group of fellow alumni on a sunny morning in Claremont to raise money for the most urgent needs of the College, like financial aid. The event starts at 9 a.m. and includes lunch with the Alumni Association Board. 

Angel Stadium Tour – June 20
Take the day off work and meet Politics Professor Lorn Foster at "The Big A" for a preview of his upcoming class, "Baseball in America," followed by a private, behind-the-scenes tour of Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Metro Art Tour – July 15
Explore Los Angeles' underground art treasures on a free, guided tour of the Metro Red Line subway system. Prior to the tour, Professor of Art Sheila Pinkel will discuss the experience of having her work selected for installation in a station.

Travel with Pomona
Join your fellow Sagehens on a gourmet wine tasting cruise on the San Francisco Bay, exploring the ecological diversity of Costa Rica, or on any of our other upcoming trips in 2007!

Six Professors Win 2006 Wig Awards for Teaching Excellence.
Professors Pierre Englebert, Richard Hazlett, Slavi Slavov, Wayne Steinmetz, Nicole Weekes (pictured) and Samuel Yamashita have been elected to receive the 2006 Wig Distinguished Professor Awards for Excellence in Teaching.

Magazine Names Pomona one of the 10 best colleges for Latinos.
Pomona College once again joined her ivy-covered sisters at the top of a collegiate ranking, this time from Hispanic Magazine for having “as strong a Hispanic presence as it does an academic reputation.”

Pomona Students Land Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships.

Sagehens claimed three Goldwater Scholarships, two Watson Fellowships and one Truman Scholarship, exemplifying Pomona’s outstanding student body.

Susan Barnard '69 Named Teacher of the Year in Washington.
2006 Washington State Teacher of the Year Susan (Bondo) Barnard '69 is a language arts and reading teacher in Shelton, WA, as well as the district’s language arts curriculum leader and literacy team leader.

Former Sagehen Tennis Star Recognized by NCAA
As part of its 25th Anniversary of Women’s Championships celebration, the NCAA named Shelley (Keeler) Whelan '92 the Division III Tennis Most Outstanding Student-Athlete of the past 25 years.
