Friday, February 15

7:30 am – Midnight  Sagehen Café.  The Café offers a full service coffee bar (Peet’s coffee) with a late night menu from 10:00 pm - midnight.

8 am – 5 pm Registration and Information. Continental Breakfast provided. Smith Campus Center Courtyard. 170 E. 6th St.

8 –11 am Open Classes. Be a student again. Pick up a class list at the registration table and join your student or pick any class that interests you. Classes begin on the hour.

8:00 am – 5:00 pm Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens.  Enjoy a self guided tour in one of the largest botanical gardens in California dedicated exclusively to the conservation of the state’s native plants.  Donations of $4 per person or $8 per family are requested.  The gardens are located at 1500 North College Avenue just north of Foothill Blvd. across from the Claremont Colleges.  For more information call (909) 625-8767 or visit their website at http://www.rsabg.org.

11:00 am – 2:00 pm Sagehen Café. Located in the Smith Campus Center, the Café offers an upscale, intimate dining experience.

11:30 am – 1 pm Lunch. Reservations required. Join your student for a great meal in Frank, Frary or Oldenborg Dining Hall.  Reservations required.

12:00 pm – 5:00 pm Art Exhibits. Don't miss the opportunity to visit our special exhibitions, James Turrel at Pomona College and That Star Aura:  Photography and the Studio System.  Pomona College Museum of Art.

12:00 pm – 1:00 p.m. IRC
International Relations Colloquium of Pomona College presents “Life in Occupied Palestine: Eyewitness Stories & Photos.” Anna Baltzer, Author. Oldenborg Dining Hall, south side.

12:15 pm  Friday Noon Concert.  Eric Lindholm, Cello; Genevieve Feiwen Lee, Piano.  Music by Prokofiev.  Balch Auditorium, Scripps College.

1 pm Women’s Softball vs. Chapman University. (Double Header) Come cheer on the Sagehens at Wig Softball Field.

1:30 – 2:30 pm Pomona Family College. This is another chance to go back to college. Faculty and administration members are designing special sessions just for you. Choose from one of the following:

“Why We Get Sick: The Evolution of Health and Disease.” André Cavalcanti, Assistant Professor of Biology. Carnegie, 107.

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” Carl A. Martellino, Director, Career Development Office. Hear about the different ways the award winning Pomona College Career Development Office (CDO) can assist your son or daughter as they plan for life after Pomona College. Smith Campus Center Room 208.

“Witchcraft and Early American Society.” Helena Wall, Warren Finney Day Professor of History. Pearsons 202.

“Fellowships at Pomona.” Paula Goldsmid, Graduate Fellowships Coordinator. Learn about some of the wonderful awards for post-college study and travel that your students can explore with help from Pomona's Graduate Fellowships Office. Hahn Building, Room 108.

“The Pomona College Study Abroad Experience.” Rhoda Borcherding, Director of Study Abroad. Come hear about the many exciting study abroad opportunities available to Pomona students. Smith Campus Center, Rose Hills Theater.

5 – 6:30 pm President’s Reception. Meet President David Oxtoby, his wife, Claire, college faculty, staff and members of the Parent’s Council. Edmunds Ballroom, Smith Campus Center.

5:00 pm – 10:00 pm Sagehen Café. Located in the Smith Campus Center, the Café offers an upscale, intimate dining experience.

5:30 pm Shabbat Services at McAlister Center. Dinner will follow the service at 6:30. For dinner, please RSVP to Manda Graziel, Hillel Program Director at 909-607-2096. McAlister Religious Center, 919 N. Columbia.

7:00 & 10:00 pm CCLA Movie. Enjoy “Enchanted” at the Rose Hills Theater. Cost is $2 with student identification or Family Weekend nametag.

7 pm Pomona Family College Special Event: An evening with Pomona parent, Ambassador Dennis Ross, P’10. Former envoy to the Middle East and member of President Clinton’s peace negotiating team, Ross will discuss the current Middle East situation. His recent book, Statecraft and How to Restore America's Standing in the World was described in The New York Times as "important and illuminating.” This is a rare opportunity to listen to someone who truly understands the situation and have your questions answered. Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. 4th St.

Saturday, February 16

7:30 am – Noon Registration and Information. Continental breakfast provided. Smith Campus Center Courtyard. 170 E. 6th St.

8 am Breakfast with Student Affairs. Reservations required. Attendance limited to family members due to space limitations. Families are invited to breakfast and conversation with Dean of Students Miriam Feldblum and members of her staff from Campus Life, the Smith Campus Center and Student Programs, the Asian American Resource Center, the Career Development Center, and the Office of Community and Volunteer Programs. Edmunds Ballroom, Smith Campus Center.  This event is closed.

10:00 am – 5 pm Art Exhibitions. Special Family Weekend Saturday Hours. Check out the latest exhibitions in the Pomona College Museum of Art. Exhibitions include James Turrell at Pomona College and That Star Aura: Photography and the Studio System.

11 am Pomona Voices Concert. Enjoy the talents of Pomona and 5-College student vocal ensembles. Tickets will be available at registration. Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. 4th St.

11:00 am Men’s Baseball vs. Lewis and Clark. (Double Header) Come cheer on the Sagehens at Alumni Baseball Field.

12:30 pm Lunch with the Dean – an Academic Perspective. Discuss campus issues with Associate Dean of the College, Cynthia Selassis at Edmunds Ballroom, Smith Campus Center.  This event is closed.

3 – 4:30 pm Black Achievement Network Reception. Everyone is invited to mix and mingle with parents, students, and faculty to hear how the network is supporting the black community at Pomona. Student performances will add to this exciting event. Seaver Alumni House, 305 N. College Ave.

4:00 – 5:30 pm Open House in Lincoln and Edmunds buildings. Visit our newest buildings to see state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities for academic departments ranging from psychology to geology. Don’t miss an opportunity to write on the walls in the Computer Science classrooms! Enjoy the Draper Courtyard and stay for the Turrell Skyspace show at sunset.

8:00 pm  Pomonapalooza.  An evening of faculty performances. Graydon Beeks, Alfred Cramer, Tom Flaherty, Katherine Hagedorn, Genevieve Feiwen Lee, Eric Lindholm, Gwendolyn Lytle, William Peterson, Joti Rockwell, and Nyoman Wenten. Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. 4th. St.  Admission is free!

8:00 pm - 10:00 pm  Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Team.  The CCBDC will host an evening of jazz, dancing, and even some demonstrations! Come enjoy the sounds of Whitton Frank, one of the hottest Jazz and Blues DJs in the US; she'll be playing a Jazz set early in the night, and a blues set later on.  Edmunds Ballroom, Smith Campus Center.

9 pm Without a Box. Enjoy entertaining improvisational theater performed by this talented 5-College student group. Garrison Theater, Performing Arts Center, 231 E. 10th Street, Scripps Campus.

Sunday, February 17

3:30–4:30 pm Four College High Tea. Join parents from Claremont McKenna,
Pomona, Pitzer and Scripps for tea. The Claremont Shades, a 5-college
a capella group, will provide musical entertainment. Seal Court, Malott
Commons, Scripps College.
