The Claremont
Colleges are served by the interfaith
Office
of the Chaplains. Three full-time chaplains, representing the
Jewish, Roman Catholic, and Protestant faiths, share the facilities
of McAlister Center for Religious Activities, and affirm the diversity
of religious traditions.
Weekly worship services are celebrated in the Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant traditions,
and important Jewish and Christian holidays are observed with special services. Other religious
groups, representing such faiths as Baha'i, Christian Science, Latter-Day Saints, Islam, and Zen
Buddhism, also meet at McAlister Center.
The chaplains offer pastoral assistance and counseling, help students make contact with members
of their own religious communities, supervise an ongoing program of volunteer community service,
and sponsor yearly events such as the Walk for the Hungry. McAlister Center provides a 24-hour
meditation chapel, a lounge, and
a library.
See list of student religious organizations.
