Assistant Vice President & Director of

Under the guidance of the Vice President & Treasurer, the
Assistant Vice President will lead the College’s ambitious
facilities construction, renovation, and maintenance program.
The Office of Campus Planning and Maintenance consists of five
different departments: Planning, Maintenance, Grounds,
Housekeeping, and Summer Conferences. These departments are
responsible for new construction and renovation on campus;
maintenance and repair of facilities; daily cleaning of all
campus buildings; maintenance of the College’s landscaped areas
and athletic fields; and coordination of on-campus conferences
during summer months. This executive will be responsible for
managing a $12 million operating budget and approximately 100
staff members.
The ideal candidate will have at least ten years
experience as a facilities officer with a proven record of
accomplishment in positions of increasing responsibility. At
least some of that experience will ideally have been in higher
education. Candidates should also have demonstrated success
managing major renovation and new construction projects in the
context of ongoing operations and a need for active control of
scope, budget, and schedule; managing Housekeeping and Grounds
staff; and operating complex facilities in support of
educational and/or research functions. The successful candidate
will have a strong understanding of all the technical components
related to construction and renovation projects with the ability
to interpret and translate this information to the board and
other college constituents in a coherent fashion. This position
also requires maintaining a high standard of customer service
with the College community as well as a diplomatic and pragmatic

Museum Coordinator

The Museum Coordinator for the Art Museum assists the Director
and professional staff of the Museum in implementing the
programs of the Museum, in making the resources of the Museum
known and available through encouraging student engagement, and
facilitating the use of collections and exhibition resources.
Duties include: entering museum events into the college
calendars, Pomona master calendar and Claremont Colleges
calendars; sends out email announcements; purchases advertising;
oversees mailing lists and bulk mailings for museum events--as
many as 10 a year. Responsible for developing museum
announcement systems which utilize web resources used by 5-C
community and general museum audience (email list serves, RSS
feeds, etc). In reach to the 5-C student, faculty and staff
communities: Initiate contacts with students to develop student
events and works with student groups on program initiatives they
find important and interesting. Assist the Director and Curators
in providing support for faculty and class use of the Museum’s
collection and exhibitions. Although the PCMA does not have a
formal program in museum education, the Museum encourages visits
from local area schools. The Museum Coordinator schedules and
facilitates class visits and provides class tours as requested.
Arranges and supervises receptions including hiring caterers,
and musicians or D.J.’s, and securing College approved servers
for alcohol service; purchases the alcohol and reception items
for non-catered events; arranges the tables for smaller
non-catered events. Bachelor degree required. Museum experience
desirable. A strong commitment to collaboration is a must as the
museum coordinator will be an integral member of a dynamic team.
Work requirements include strong computer, writing and

working with other Advancement colleagues and departments
throughout the College, Major Gifts Officer will be responsible
for managing a portfolio comprising a minimum of 150 prospects

cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these individuals.
Considerable travel, both out of state and within California,

Production Manager,

Primary responsibility for the management of four main stage
theatrical productions and a fully produced dance concert
each academic year. Other responsibilities include
supervision of three technical staff members (technical

Senior Laboratory Associate, Pomona College

The Biology Department at Pomona College seeks a highly
motivated individual with broad training in biology, and
expertise in ecology and the plant sciences. The two primary
responsibilities will be 1.) To prepare for laboratories and
field work in an introductory course with an emphasis on
ecology and evolution, place orders and acquire materials
for this course, and assist in teaching the laboratory, and
2.) To maintain the departmental plant-growing facilities,
including greenhouses and growth chambers, and be
responsible for growing plants for class use and for
research. The senior lab associate may also assist in the
preparation of laboratories for some appropriate
upper-division biology courses, as time permits. He/she will
supervise student assistants in greenhouse work and in
preparation and cleanup for the introductory course labs.

Language Technology Intern at The Foreign Language Resource
Center (FLRC)

The Foreign Language Resource Center (FLRC) is part of the
Oldenborg Center for Modern Languages and International
Relations at Pomona College. It explores advances in
language technology and promotes creative, sustainable
language production by faculty and their students, both
inside and outside the classroom. The FLRC offers
specialized equipment on-site and also functions as a
meeting and coordination space to support those engaged in
studies of target languages and cultures. The Language
Technology intern reports directly to the FLRC head. The
intern provides administrative and technical support to the
FLRC and serves as a first point of contact. Ideal
candidates will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and
communication skills as this position interacts with
faculty, staff, and students with various levels of
experience in target languages and technology. The intern
assists the FLRC head in day-to-day administration of the
center by supervising a staff of student workers, organizing
and completing assigned projects independently, and by
maintaining FLRC security. Flexibility, a willingness to
collaborate with others, and professional discretion are
expected. The FLRC intern is part of a larger team of
language professionals at Pomona College and complements
services offered by the Oldenborg Center and modern language
faculty. As such, opportunity exists to contribute to
ongoing projects and research. Maintain language learning
resources in the FLRC and assist faculty and students in
their use. Assist FLRC head in ensuring FLRC is
appropriately staffed during business hours. Supervise
student worker staff in the FLRC. Monitor equipment
check-out program. Oversee and assist faculty and students
with web-based and technology-enhanced projects and class
assignments. Assist FLRC head with yearly boot camp training
program; additional duties as assigned.
Experience in a college setting and some college
coursework are required; B.A. preferred. Demonstrate
proficiency with Macintosh and Windows operating systems,
networking, and software. Working knowledge of one or more
of the modern foreign languages taught at Pomona College
(Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish);
proficiency in such language preferred. Excellent
interpersonal skills and ability to work in collaborative

History Department at Pomona College seeks persons
interested in modeling for studio art classes. Hours
are variable and available from September through
mid-May. The department is looking for a variety of body
types for the purpose of modeling in the nude for studio art
classes. Prior experience is preferable but not
necessary. The job requires the ability to maintain a
professional attitude in the classroom, to take directions
from the professor, to hold a pose for up to 20 minutes at a
time, and to remain quiet while modeling.
