Three
New Trustees Join Pomona's Board
Three Pomona alumniLucila Arango Graham 88,
Jason Rosenthal 92 and M. Lynn Yonekura, M.D., 70have
been elected to the Board of Trustees of Pomona College.
Graham
has dedicated her career to education. Co-founder of The Odyssey Program,
a private elementary school in Malibu that provides children with individualized
attention in the classroom and diverse educational experiences, she oversees
the schools finances, budget, strategic planning, creation and implementation
of curriculum, nationwide searches for teachers and administrators, student
admissions, marketing, health insurance and business issues. For Pomona,
Graham has been a longtime supporter of the Colleges Latin American
Studies Program and a member of Torchbearers since 1993.
Rosenthal
is vice president and general manager of Customer OperationsEast
Region for Loudcloud, Inc., an Internet infrastructure company that builds
and manages software, databases and other services. Following his studies
at Pomona, he worked for Rebuild L.A., the economic development organization
formed in the wake of the 1992 Los Angeles riots and earned a M.B.A. from
the Stanford Graduate School of Business. An active alumnus since his
graduation, Rosenthal co-chaired his fifth reunion committee, established
the Clark Jensen Memorial Fund and served as a member of the National
Campaign Committee and as the Young Alumni Trustee in 1998.
After
earning her M.D. from USC, Dr. Yonekura has spent almost 30 years working
to improve health services for women and children in Los Angeles County.
She is currently director of perinatal services and executive director
of the Hope Street Family Center at the California Hospital Medical Center
(CHMC), a birthing hospital that offers a comprehensive array of services
for low-income families. Yonekura is also a clinical professor of obstetrics
and gynecology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance and executive
director of Options for Recovery: Harbor/South Bay (OFR), a comprehensive
care program for pregnant and parenting chemically-dependent women and
their children. Dr. Yonekura has received numerous honors including the
Woman of the Year Award from Los Angeles County's Commission for Women
in 1998. For Pomona, she has served on the Torchbearers Board (as president
in 1997), on the Associates Board and on the Alumni Council/Alumni Fund
Committee. She also participates in the Colleges Career Development
Volunteer Program.
