It soon will be reunion time for Sagehens who graduated in classes ending in the numbers 3 and 8. Start making plans to return to Claremont by reserving your hotel rooms today. Rooms are reserved at the Sheraton Ontario Airport Hotel (800-582-2946) as well as at the Sheraton Suites Fairplex in Pomona (888-627-8074). New Alumni Award Created
The Pomona College Alumni Association Board has created the “Blaisdell Distinguished Alumni Award” to recognize alumni for achievement in their professions, community service or extracurricular activities. The alumni to be honored will have carried the spirit of the College into the world by embodying the inscription by James A. Blaisdell on the Pomona College Gates, “They only are loyal to this college who departing bear their added riches in trust for mankind.” Honorees will be recognized at the “Through the Gates: Celebrating Pomona” program during Alumni Weekend. All members of the Pomona College community (including alumni, faculty, staff, and students) may nominate candidates for this award. Nominations should include the nominee’s name and class year, background information since college, and a concise explanation of that person’s distinguished achievement. The Awards Selection Committee process is confidential and alumni nominees will only be notified if selected for the award. A Call for Nominations
The Alumni Association also is seeking nominations for: • The Alumni Distinguished Service Award pays tribute to an alumnus or alumna in recognition of that person’s selfless commitment and ongoing volunteer service to Pomona College. • The Inspirational Young Alumni Award honors a graduate of the last decade for his or her dedication, perseverance, and consistency in following the inscription on the College Gates: “They only are loyal to this college who departing bear their added riches in trust for mankind.” Send names of nominees, with a brief supporting statement, to the below address by Nov. 2, 2007.
