Record Year for Fulbrights
Awards/ 2007 Fellowships

Twenty-five graduates of the Pomona College Class of 2007 have received prestigious Fulbright Fellowships to pursue research or teach around the globe, shattering Pomona’s all-time record for Fulbrights received. In addition, at least four graduates from earlier class years received Fulbrights, bringing this year's remarkable total to 29. They have set off for far-flung locations ranging from Niger to New Zealand. Here’s a list of recipients, their destinations, and the nature of their grants:

• Anna Gressel, Morocco, research in women’s studies.
• Kiyomi Gelber, Thailand, teaching grant.
• Ashley M. Jackson, Benin, research in education reform.
• Benjamin Jenson, Hong Kong, teaching grant.
• Laura Kaneko, Spain, teaching grant.
• Shayle Kann, Australia, research in energy efficiency retrofits on existing buildings.
• Brian Kastl, New Zealand, research in eruption-triggering mechanisms of Tongariro Volcano.
• Doris Lee, South Korea, teaching grant.
• Julia Longenecker, Brazil, teaching grant.
• Katie Lenhoff, Russia, teaching grant.
• Lily Muldoon, Kenya, research in public health and water projects.
