New Faces / Board of Trustees
Welcome a-Board
Three new members have been elected to Pomona College’s Board of Trustees. Bernard Chan ’88, Scott R.
Green ’88 and Francine Scinto are joining the College’s governing board.
Chan, a resident of Hong Kong, is president of Asia Financial Group and its subsidiary Asian Insurance, one of Hong Kong’s leading insurers. In 2008, he was
elected to the National People’s Congress as one of 36 Hong Kong deputies. Before that, he was a member of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council. Among his
public service activities, Chan is chair of the Hong Kong Council for Social Service; member, the Antiquities Advisory Board; chair, Lingnan University
Council; and chair, Hong Kong-Thailand Business Council. In 2006, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by Hong Kong’s government. An art major at Pomona, Chan served as the young alumni
representative on the Board of Trustees from 1995 to 1998; a member of his 10th Reunion Fund Committee; co-chair of his 20th Reunion Fund
Committee; and as a member of the National Campaign Committee.
Green, a resident of Newport Beach, is the founder and CEO of Irvine-based StrataCare, Inc., which provides workers’ compensation medical cost containment
software to large insurance and Fortune 500 companies. He has been active in St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church for many years and is an elder and member of
the church’s session. He was chairman of the church’s building fund raising committee and the preschool fund-raising board. He also volunteers as a mentor
and tutor. As a student at Pomona, Green was an economics major and a member of the 1986 championship basketball team.
Since graduation, Green served as co-chair of both his 15th and 20th Reunion Fund Committees, and as an alumni member of the Pomona
Board of Trustees Committee on Trustees. He earned his M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
Scinto is vice president of Orange County Associates, a commercial and industrial real estate investment and management firm in Santa Ana. Active
in education and her community, she has been a board member of the Tustin Unified School District since 1996 and twice served as board president. She is also
president of the California Association of Suburban School District and former president of the Foothill Community Association. Scinto is the parent of two
Pomona students, Daniel ’09 and Stephan ’11, as well as ’08 Pitzer graduate Madeline; a member of the Pomona College
Parents Council; an active volunteer for the Pomona Parent Fund calling program; and has co-hosted, with her husband, Daniel J. Scinto III, welcome
parties for Pomona’s Parents Council. A graduate of Manhattanville College in New York, Scinto earned her M.B.A. at Columbia University.
