Campus Life / Bicycle Sharing
Taking Sustainability to the Streets

In an effort to take sustainability to the Claremont streets, the College unveiled this fall a new bike-sharing program that will allow students to borrow state-of-the-art folding bicycles, creating endless travel possibilities for exploring Los Angeles or for just taking a ride around the Pomona College campus. The uniquely designed bikes fold in half in a matter of seconds and weigh less than 25 pounds, making them perfect for commutes on busy city buses and on Metrolink trains. Last spring, Pomona’s Sustainability Committee forged a relationship with Dahon, a Duarte-based folding-bycicle manufacturer that agreed to make the program possible by donating three bikes and six magnet-powered safety lights to the College.
