Coming Attractions

In the past year, more than 60 regional alumni events--scattered across the globe and ranging from lectures and volunteer opportunities to cultural outings and nature hikes--have given more than 3,000 alumni an opportunity to visit with other alumni, faculty and current students. And the beat goes on. Here are a few examples of upcoming alumni events around the country in coming months:

  • Southland, May 8: Southland alumni will "mug" the Class of 2002 at Mug Passing, 7 p.m., Seaver House on the Pomona campus.
  • Southern California Young Alumni, May 8: Happy hour at one of the old Claremont haunts. For information, contact Karla Romero '97 at romero_karla@hotmail.com.
  • Sacramento, May 11: Tour of the Vino Noceto Winery, established by Jim '70 and Suzanne Gullett, producers of premium Sangiovese wines. A picnic lunch will follow the tour and wine tasting, along with tours of several other Plymouth area wineries. Information: Kristin Daniel '88 at ekdaniel@pacbell.net.
  • Puget Sound, May 11: Enjoy George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man at the Intiman Theatre in Seattle. Bart Sherr, the theatre director, will speak to the group following the play. A Chinese Buddhist vegetarian lunch will follow at Bamboo Garden. Information: Carla Montejo '75 at carlam@nwjustice.org.
  • Washington, DC, May 19: Join naturalist Fawn Foerster '79 for a pontoon cruise on Little Seneca Lake. To RSVP, contact Fawn at ffoerster@mncppc.state.md.us or (301) 972-5990.
  • Bay Area, June 4: Attend Tony Kushner's new play, Kabul, at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and join a discussion with the playwright afterwards. Weekend tickets are nearly sold out, so if you'd like to attend, this is a fantastic opportunity. Information: Michelle Cooke '90 at mcooke90@alum.pomona.edu.
  • Nationwide, June 4: Young alumni across the nation will be gathering for 5-College Happy Hours. Information: the Alumni Office at alumni@pomona.edu or (909) 621-8110.
  • Bay Area, June 20: Come satisfy your eyes, ears and stomach with the premiere of Dan Bernstein's ('97) new documentary at the Delancey Street Theatre in San Francisco. Dan lived in Japan from 1997-1999 and recorded his extraordinary experiences on film. You will enjoy Japanese food prior to the screening and afterwards discuss Japan, cross-cultural experiences, and how to make a documentary on a budget.   • New York, June 13: Join us for an evening with President Peter Stanley. Information: alumni@pomona.edu or (909) 621-8110.
