Welcome to the Alumni BoardIn
addition to President Catherine Troyer Rose ’85, the Alumni Association
welcomed five new board members this year:
Dodie Bump ’76 of Wellesley, Mass., is a past chair of the Boston
regional chapter. She will assist with leadership development and
regional programming.
April Mayes ’94 of Claremont joined the faculty at Pomona this
fall. She serves as an at-large member of the board and will assist with
the networking and affinity programming.
Laurie Clark McCulley ’82 of Winter Park, Fla., is past chair of
the Seattle chapter and will assist with regional programming.
Tom Minar ’85 of Evanston, Ill., past chair of the Chicago
chapter, will assist with leadership development.
Verne Orr ’37 of Pasadena, Calif., is a past recipient of the
Alumni Distinguished Service Award and will assist with leadership
development.
Memory, Memoir and Madeleines
As part of the 2007 Alumni Weekend, the 18th Annual Pomona College
Alumni Symposium will explore memory and the writing of memoir, as well
as psychological, literary and historic
aspects of the fascinating subject area. Once again, the Symposium will
bring together both faculty and alumni experts from such academic fields
as biology, photography and film
studies, neuroscience, history, psychology and comparative literature,
in a series of lectures, seminars and discussions on campus April 27 and
28.
A Tribute to Parents and Grandparents
Sagehens have a way of carrying on the tradition, as families leave
their mark on Pomona College for generations to come. Fourteen members
of the Class of 2010 have alumni parents
and another four have alumni grandparents. Three have both parents and
grandparents who are alumni. Pictured here from left to right (front
