Steel Joins Board of Trustees

Gordon Steel ’67 was elected to the Pomona College Board of Trustees after serving as the chief financial officer of several high technology companies, joining them in the early stages of product development and assisting as they established themselves as public corporations.

He was the chief financial officer of Xilinx Inc. and Marvell Technology Group. In 2002, he co-founded Codaware Inc. He isalso a former director of the Marshall Steel Jr. Foundation. Steel has a “fondness” for Pomona and wanted to give back to his alma mater for the individual attention, the high-quality faculty and the incredible classmates and roommates he met while a student.At Pomona, he was senior class treasurer, treasurer of Alpha Gamma Nu fraternity and served on the Interfraternity Council. He was an economics major and later earned an MBA from Stanford University. He and his wife, Lauri ’67, have two children, Keith and Leith, and live in Los Altos, Calif.
