Wig Professors for 2003

Pomona juniors and seniors have elected five outstanding professors to receive the 2003 Wig Distinguished Professorship Awards, recognizing exceptional teaching and service. This year’s recipients (left to right in the photo below) are:

Associate Professor of Music Donna Di Grazia, who teaches courses in the history of Western music. She also serves as Pomona’s choral director and is a scholar of choral and cathedral music.

Assistant Professor of Classics and History Ronald Cluett, who teaches courses in Greek language and ancient history. His research focuses on Central Asia in the Western and Chinese imaginations.

Associate Professor of Art History and Black Studies Phyllis Jackson, who teaches art histories of Africa and the African Diaspora and studies the arts of both.

Associate Professor of Chemistry Daniel O'Leary, who teaches organic chemistry and investigates new methods for determining the solution conformation of molecules. This is his second Wig Award.

Professor of Politics Elizabeth Crighton, who teaches courses in comparative politics and studies ethnic politics and peacemaking in divided societies. This is her fifth Wig Award.

The awards were established by Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Wig in 1955.
