Go Native at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden.
This 86-acre garden located just across Foothill Boulevard from The
Claremont Colleges is packed with about 2,800 types of plants native to
California, from colorful wildflowers and perennials to majestic redwood
trees and large coast live oak trees that are several hundred years old.
The garden is open daily to visitors who want to stroll the dirt paths,
check out the greenery, go birdwatching (the local Audubon Society
conducts a monthly bird walk at the garden) or simply sit on a bench and
watch the antics of the ducks who make their home in one of several
garden ponds. “It is a haven within our city where you can step back
away from the rush and bustle and enjoy quiet meditational time that
puts you in touch with nature,” says Ann Joslin, director of community
relations for the garden.
