Aquarium of the Pacific
#35
Touch a shark at Aquarium of the Pacific.

Yes, you read that right.

The shark touch pools at this Long Beach aquarium allow you to put two fingers, gently, on certain sharks—not including, to be honest, the type pictured here. This sort is best met from behind the thick walls of the aquarium. One of the largest aquariums in the country, this Long Beach attraction offers a chance to watch more than 12,000 animals, ranging from sea lions to sea turtles, otters to octopi. The aquarium features exhibitions devoted to the North Pacific, the Tropical Pacific and the waters off Southern California and Baja. And if you tire of sea life, there’s also a Lorikeet Forest exhibition full of colorful birds from Australia. The Aquarium is near the Queen Mary and hip Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach.
