Hike the Claremont Wilderness Park.
If you’re looking for a day hike that is close to campus and gives a
good sense of the local environment, the Claremont Wilderness Park
offers paths for hiking and biking, and is only a few minutes from the
College. The park is home to a variety of Southern Cali¬fornia flora and
fauna including laurel sumac, scrub oak, sagebrush, quails, red-tailed
hawks, rabbits, great horned owls, deer and—of course—the occasional
snake. This wilderness park is located north of the city, with the
entrance at the north end of Mills Avenue.
