Rise above it all on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
Too tired for a long hike? Don’t want to deal with dirty boots, stinky
socks and painful blisters? This famous ride on tramcars dangling from
cables offers a chance to ascend almost 6,000 feet of mountain in all of
10 minutes. In that time, you’ll rise from the desert climate near the
base of Mt. San Jacinto to the snowy (in winter) forest near the top. At
night, you might glimpse the glow of Las Vegas. You don’t even have to
move around within the tram for a good view, thanks to the rotating
floors.
And if the nearby San Andreas Fault should happen to slip while you’re
on board, hold on tight and remember you’ll have a great story to tell
when the shaking stops.
