Critical Inquiry/ America's Game
Why Baseball?
Professor Lorn Foster gave alumni a sneak peek at his Critical
Inquiry course on Baseball in America this summer with a
behind-the-scenes tour of Angel Stadium in Anaheim. “Why is baseball
America’s game?” First-year students in Foster’s course this fall will
examine this question and whether “baseball is more than a "sport,’” as
they evaluate the cultural, economic, historical and political aspects
of the sport in America today. Critical Inquiry courses are taught by
faculty across the disciplines and engage first-year students in varied
topics. Also included in this year’s offerings: Justice and the Family,
Ritual and Magic
in Children’s Literature, For the Greatest Good and The TV Novel.
