2. Mudd-Blaisdell Hall |

The first building in view is the largest dormitory on campus, Mudd-Blaisdell Hall, housing 260
students in singles, doubles, and suites. Its spacious recreational rooms are centers of activity
on South Campus. Mudd-Blaisdell Hall is a coed dorm, as are all dorms on Pomona’s campus, and is home
to many sponsor groups. Sponsor groups consist of approximately 16 first-year students living near one
another with two sophomore students, called sponsors, who act as mentors. The sponsor group program is
designed to help new students make a successful transition to college life. Out of view, Gibson Hall,
located in the courtyard of Mudd-Blaisdell, houses the South Campus student computing center. Gibson’s
Mac and PC computers are available to students 24 hours a day.
Just to the left of Mudd-Blaisdell is a glimpse through the trees of Frank Dining Hall, one of three
dining halls on campus. Pomona students may eat at any dining hall on campus, the student-run restaurants,
or dining halls on the other Claremont campuses as part of their college meal plan. Panning further left to
the end of Bonita Avenue, you can also glimpse the Byron Dick Seaver Theatre completed in September 1990.
The theatre complex includes the 350-seat Seaver Auditorium, the 100-seat Virginia Princehouse Allen
performance space, studios, set and costume shops, classrooms, and faculty offices.
