Campus and Beyond

Smith Tower at Pomona College

Pomona College is located in Claremont, California, a quiet, 35,000-resident community near the foothills of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains. With a subtle blend of New England charm and Southern California beauty, Claremont is rich in Spanish architecture, Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, quaint village shops and restaurants. The campus is just a short walk away from the "Village" at the center of town, which has restaurants, shops, a movie theatre, and services like banks, the library and the post office.

Within one square mile are The Claremont Colleges--the oldest educational consortium in the U.S.. Comprised of five undergraduate colleges: Pomona, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Pitzer. Claremont Graduate University and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences, the institutions are on adjacent campuses. The consortium was inspired by the Oxford University structure, blending the intimate atmosphere of small colleges with the academic and social resources of a university.

Los Angeles is just 35 miles to the west, and within 50 miles of the campus lies all that Southern California has to offer--from academic and cultural centers, theme parks and attractions to spectacular beaches, mountain ski resorts, and desert tranquility.
