an unusually large number of full-time members in comparison to most small liberal arts colleges.

Pomona College boasts ten full-time faculty members, all active performers, with a wide variety of specializations (including performance, composition, music history, music theory and ethnomusicology) and national and international visibility. In addition to performing, many have received a variety of awards,  published articles and books, and recoreded numerous CDs with various labels.

In addition to the full-time members of the Department of Music, the program also welcomes approximately 30 adjunct faculty, all of them also active performers throughout Southern California. These faculty regulary perform either as soloists or with a variety of acclaimed ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Long Beach and Pasadena Symphonies and others.
