Students interested in entering professions related to health care
have access to many resources through the Pre-Medical Sciences Society
and the Health Sciences Committee. Most Pomona College pre-health students hope to be admitted to allopathic (M.D.) or osteopathic
(D.O.) medical schools in order to become physicians. Others are
interested in dentistry, optometry, podiatry, or veterinary medicine.
Pomona College has a long and outstanding tradition of preparing
students for health professions school. Highlights of this program are:
- A top-notch liberal arts experience.
- Wide choice in your major field of study.
- Sound preparation in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
- Opportunity for study abroad.
- Opportunity for independent research.
- Opportunity for first-hand experience in health-care settings.
- Diverse lectures, seminars, and meetings on important issues
regarding health medicine and on the various types of health-related careers.
- Individual relationship of each pre-medical student with the
Health Sciences Committee, culminating in a detailed Committee
letter of evaluation for those professions that expect such a
letter, and much help and advice in the application
process for all students.
