Study of Neuroscience at Pomona College

Neuroscience Department Website

Neuroscience is the interdisciplinary study of the nervous system and behavior. It represents a broad range of perspectives and includes issues such as the molecular and cellular basis of neuronal function, nervous system structure, how systems of neurons process information, how functions are represented in the brain, the evolutionary development of the nervous system, neural correlates of behavior, and mechanisms of nervous system disorder.

All majors take courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, and statistics, as well as a series of interdisciplinary neuroscience courses. Students complete a thesis involving original neuroscience research in the laboratory, field, or library.

Neuroscience majors have gone on to medical school, graduate programs in neuroscience, biology, clinical neuropsychology, and physical therapy.
