Fred Sontag
After over fifty-five years of teaching at the Pomona — the longest tenure of any faculty member in the College's history — Fred Sontag died on June 14, 2009 at the age of 84.
Fred touched countless students during his time in the Philosophy Department. He continued to be a devoted teacher, mentor, and researcher until his official retirement from the College, just one month before his death. The Department is saddened and diminished by his loss. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
For more about Fred, including photos, articles, and tributes from his recent retirement, please see the College's memorial page.
