Frequently Asked Questions

When can I arrive on campus?

New students (first-year and transfers) can check into the residence hall beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 24th. Students should report to the tent on the south side of Sumner Hall. The Residence Halls open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30st for returning students. Classes begin on Tuesday, September 2nd.

If I am on the deferred housing list, when can I expect to hear about my housing assignment?

All those not yet housed will be assigned sometime mid-August and will be notified through their Pomona email.

Can I ship packages ahead of time prior to arriving on campus?

Students may ship packages, boxes, etc. to themselves at their Campus Center address. Items cannot be received before August 11th. Items received will be held at a special receiving area on campus (Mudd-Blaisdell Hall) for the students to claim them when they arrive.

When is Fall Break 2014?

Begins after the last class on Friday, October 17th. It ends at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22rd. Residence Halls and Dining Halls are open.

When is Thanksgiving Recess?

Thanksgiving break begins after the last class on Wednesday, November 27th. It ends at 8:00 a.m. on December 1st. Residence Halls are open. One Dining Hall will be open for the entire Consortium, with limited holiday hours.

When do the Residence Halls close in December?

Residence Halls close at NOON on Saturday, December 20th. Everyone must leave by that time. There is no housing available during semester break.

When do the Residence Halls open in January 2015?

Residence Halls open at 8am, Sunday, January 18th. Classes begin on Tuesday, January 21st.

When is Family Weekend?

Family Weekend will be February 13th - 15th.

When is Spring Break 2015?

Begins after the last class on Friday, March 13th. Ends at 8:00 a.m., Monday, March 23rd.

When do the residence halls close in May 2015?

Residence Halls close at noon, Monday, May 18th. Commencement is Sunday, May 17th.

I lost my ID card. Where can I replace it?

The Office of Campus Life can replace your lost or stolen ID card. There is a $15.00 charge for replacement IDs.

I lost my room key, how do I get a new one?

New keys can be ordered in the Office of Campus Life. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. There is a $75.00 fee for each new key made. If you live in a double, two keys must be made, as the lock must be changed for security purposes.

I lost my mailbox key, how do I get a new one?

Mailbox keys are given out from the student mail room. Replacement keys are $25.00. The student mailroom is located on the first floor of the Smith Campus Center.

Something does not work in my room, who can I contact?

During business hours, call the maintenance department at (909) 607-2236, or use their online system by visiting their webpage, and using the "Create a Service Request" link on the right side of the page. After hours in an emergency, contact Campus Safety at (909) 607-2000.  Students can also send an email to saysomething@pomona.edu with detailed information about the issue.
