Simply put, you should never think about going for a job or internship interview without preparation and practice. No matter how qualified you may appear on paper, the interview is what will determine whether you are hired or not. Please read through the material on interviewing to learn what to expect in an interview and how to best prepare for it, but additionally, sign-up for a practice interview.  Whatever you may be planning--career directions, graduate or professional school, fellowships--strong interviewing skills will always be necessary regardless of your field of interest.  Additionally, alumni consistently tell us that you can't start early enough preparing for interviews and that all students should do a mock interview to strengthen their interviewing skills.

To schedule a practice interview appointment through the CDO:

  1. Log in to ClaremontConnect & select "Make an Appointment".
  2. Select "Practice Interview Session" or "Interview Preparation (what to expect)" & select the date and time on the calendar.
  3. Include in the "Notes" section, a copy of your resume and a brief description of the types of positions for which you are applying (e.g. teaching, consulting, research, arts/gallery).  If possible, please also attach a job/internship description.
  4. If you have any issues or questions, come by the CDO and we can work to accommodate any special issues.

Due to high demand and importance for preparation, please be sure make your appointment well in advance of any actual interview.
