Federal Verification
Approximately thirty percent of all federal student aid applications are selected for verification - a process in which Pomona College checks the accuracy of the information submitted on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by comparing it to data submitted on the Verification Worksheet and tax documents. For students who receive federal grant assistance such as the Federal Pell, SEOG, ACG or SMART Grants, and for some who receive Federal loan assistance from the Federal Perkins Loan or the Subsidized Federal Direct Loan, this means that Pomona College must verify the information on your FAFSA before we may disburse federal aid to your student account. Some students who do not receive Federal Student Aid may also be selected for verification.
If your application is selected, or if your application contains discrepant information, the Financial Aid Office will email you with a request for additional information or documentation. In some cases, after verification is complete, your federal aid eligibility may change, which requires Pomona College to adjust your financial aid award. The Financial Aid Office will notify you of any changes to your award. A revised Offer of Financial Aid will be sent to you by email, or a paper copy may be sent to your campus or home address.
If requested, please complete and submit a signed Verification Worksheet directly to the Financial Aid Office.
