Federal Verification

The federal government requires that Pomona College check the accuracy of certain data elements entered on the FAFSA for any student who has been selected for Verification. About one-third of Pomona College students on financial aid are selected randomly each year. Some students who do not receive Federal Student Aid may also be selected for Verification.

If your application is selected, or if your application contains discrepant information, the Office of Financial Aid will contact you if further information or documentation is needed.  In some cases, after the Verification process has been completed, your federal aid eligibility may change, which may require Pomona College to adjust your financial aid award. The Office of Financial Aid will notify you of any changes to your award.

The following documentation is required for Verification:

The IRS Data Retrieval allows you to transfer IRS data directly into your FAFSA. If you are unable to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you may request a tax return transcript from the IRS and email it to the Financial Aid Office.
