Federal Verification
Approximately 30% of all federal student aid applications are selected for a process called Verification. The federal government requires that Pomona College check the accuracy of certain data elements entered on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for any student who has been selected for Verification. For students who receive federal grant assistance such as the Federal Pell, SEOG, and for some who receive Federal loan assistance from the Federal Perkins Loan or the Subsidized Federal Direct Loan, this means that Pomona College must complete the Verification process before we able to disburse any federal aid to your student account. Some students who do not receive Federal Student Aid may also be selected for Verification.
If your application is selected, or if your application contains discrepant information, the Office of Financial Aid will contact you if further information or documentation is needed. In some cases, after the Verification process has been completed, your federal aid eligibility may change, which may require Pomona College to adjust your financial aid award. The Office of Financial Aid will notify you of any changes to your award.
Additional Requirements for Verification
If selected for Verification, you may be required to submit the following additional documentation to supplement your financial aid application:
2012-2013 Federal Verification Worksheet (Dependent Student) [pdf]
2011 IRS Data Retrieval or Federal Tax Transcript for Parent (if parent(s) filed a tax return)*
2011 IRS Data Retrieval or Federal Tax Transcript for Student (if student filed a tax return)*
Please note that this list is not exhaustive.
