Graduate Fellowships Office

*The Javits Fellowship Program will not receive applicants for 2012. Please contact Tania Pantoja if you have any questions.*

Check back often for new dates and deadlines, new faculty advisors, and possible changes in procedures.

The Graduate Fellowships Office works with Pomona College students and graduates interested in applying for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. Most of these awards are for post-graduate study and travel, hence the "Graduate" in our name. We also advise on several merit-based national fellowships for undergraduates.

IMPORTANT:  Before you leave the fellowships web, browse the Other Resources page and follow the links to search engines, databases, and advice from outside sources.  Also read the tips for applying.

Each year, Pomona students achieve some of the most prestigious awards for graduate study and travel in many parts of the world, and for awards that bridge undergraduate and graduate school.

Start exploring fellowships early in your college career.  Preparing for these wonderful opportunities requires work well in advance of submission deadlines.  Look for fellowships that match your interests and experience, and think about how you can  develop your qualifications to the fullest by the time you are eligible to apply. Prestigious national fellowships are highly competitive and require a lot of work, but the process itself is rewarding: our applicants know themselves and their goals much better by the time their applications are submitted, whether or not they win the fellowship.  Use this website to start your exploration.  In addition, consult fellowship advisors,  your professors, and others. Watch for announcements and information meetings throughout the year, and do visit the GFO to tell us about yourself, your interests, and your vision for the future!

Graduate Fellowship Office advising is not limited to the awards listed on this site. If you identify a new fellowship opportunity, let us know about it and help you apply. For information about need-based undergraduate scholarships, and about graduate awards for Pomona students exclusively (such as the Bracken, Dill, Heiser, and Honnold fellowships), consult the Financial Aid Office.
