OEC staff retreatSeptember 22, 2013
The Outdoor Education Center (OEC) student staff headed to the mountains last weekend. There was fun to be had as everyone took turns conquering the rock climbing routes set up by Director of Outdoor Education, Martin Crawford.
The retreat took place at a little known climbing area in the San Bernardino Mountains called Shady Cove Campground at Keller Peak. A basic bucket lunch supplied the energy for climbing, while an evening of peanut butter pizza made for happy bellies. That evening, the group gathered around the campfire to discuss this year's OEC events, workshops, and training sessions. Ideas include: outdoor skills workshops like knots and packing for the backcountry, film presentations such as Reel Rock Film Tour (Nov 16), and collaborative outings for other campus organizations such as sponsor groups, That Saturday Group, the QRC and OBSA.
The group traveled back to campus on Sunday and finished the retreat with brunch at Frary. The OEC is now open for all your outdoor needs. Come by to checkout outdoor gear, get expert advice, or plan an adventure of your own!
