Trustees, Administration and Staff
Paul Efron ’76 was elected chairman of the Pomona College Board of Trustees. Efron is an advisory director at Goldman Sachs and Co. and director of Insurent Corporation. He earned a B.A. in English from Pomona and an M.B.A. in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Efron succeeds Stewart Smith ’68, who will chair the comprehensive fundraising campaign, which is scheduled to launch on Oct. 16, 2010.
Year in Review
Cecilia Conrad was appointed vice president and dean of the college. A member of the Pomona faculty since 1995, she is the Stedman-Sumner Professor of Economics. Conrad served as associate dean of academic affairs at Pomona from 2004-2007 and as dean of faculty at Scripps College from 2007−09. She succeeds Gary Kates, who will return to full-time teaching at Pomona after a yearlong sabbatical.
David Oxtoby, president of the College, was named vice chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Board of Directors. The AAC&U is the leading national educational association concerned with the quality, vitality and public standing of undergraduate liberal education. It has a membership of more than 1,150 accredited public and private colleges and universities.
