Tuesday Talks are hosted in the Queer Resource Center weekly from 6:30-7:30 pm unless otherwise noted. These affirming discussion spaces are facilitated by trained student facilitators. The QRC will be closed during the talks to ensure a safe and confidential space for all participants. Topics will rotate.
Asexuality Talk – This affirming discussion space is open to students of all sexual orientations and gender identities to discuss issues surrounding asexuality and the many understandings of sexual attraction.
Polyamory and Monogamy Talk - This affirming discussion space is designed for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students and allies to them. The discussion will center on monogamy, polyamory, and the different ways people form relationships.
Grrrl Talk - This is an affirming discussion space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students who identify as grrrls/women and allies to them.
Guy Talk - This is an affirming discussion space for gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students who identify as guys/men and allies to them.
QPOC Talk - This affirming discussion space is designed for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities who identify as people of color and allies to them. Discussion can surround issues specific to QPOC communities, explore their multiple identities and the intersections of race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Gender Talk - This affirming discussion space is designed for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities to talk about genderqueer, transgender, queer, and questioning labels, what they mean and to challenge gender and sexuality binaries and norms.
Coming Out Talk - This supportive talk will be held to honor National Coming Out Day (Oct 11). The discussion will center on issues of coming out and what it means.
Ally Talk - Students who identify as allies to the LGBTQQIAA community are invited to discuss challenges and joys of being allies!
Faith Talk - Anyone who has been thinking about the pull between faith and queer issues is invited to come and chat about issues of faith as they intersect with LGBTQQIAA issues.
Family Talk - Out at school but not so much at home? Family talks are held before breaks to talk about issues surrounding what lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students do when they go home.
Hooking Up Talk - This is an affirming discussion space designed for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students and allies to them. Come talk about hooking up and what it means for queer people, taking into account the issues of sexual assault and enthusiastic consent.
Privilege Talk - This affirming discussion space is designed for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities to discuss privilege within a context of queer identities and intersectionality.
New Queeriosity - Students of all sexual orientations and gender identities are invited to participate in a discussion on what it means to be queer.
New (Queer) Politics and Activism Talk - This affirming discussion space is designed for students of all sexual orientations and gender identities to discuss political and activist issues. Discussion can address questions of how important politics are to queer people and their allies and the role activism plays in queer students’ lives.
