QQAMP New Mentor Application

The primary goal of QQAMP is to offer a safe environment for the personal growth of our mentees.  One thing often lacking in the experiences of queer, questioning, and allied students is the support necessary for inclusion into our college community.  QQAMP mentoring is important to help provide students with safe spaces within a campus environment which can often be heterosexist, gender oppressive, and hostile. Overall, QQAMP endeavors to help mentees develop a positive identity by connecting them with mentors who are part of a larger community. First-year students are not eligible to be mentors.

Job Responsibilities

  • Return to campus early in the fall to attend mentor training
  • Meet weekly with mentees
  • Preserve confidentiality of mentees
  • Maintain safe space at training, meetings, events, and retreats
  • Communicate openly with head mentors about programming suggestions and mentee issues
  • Submit weekly online check-ins to head mentors
  • Attend biweekly meetings with other mentors
  • Help coordinate and host events with head mentors by joining programming committee

I'd like to be a QQAMP Mentor
