International & Domestic Program Advising

The International and Domestic Programs Office requires all students to meet with an advisor as part of their program research and application process. Our office provides students with tools to help them determine which program best suits their academic and personal goals. Our advisors also encourage students to tailor their preparation for off-campus study to their unique needs, goals, and interests.

All students* interested in studying abroad must attend a Getting Started with the IDPO info session, or watch the “Getting Started with the IDPO” video series, in addition to completing a quiz, prior to meeting with an international programs advisor. Domestic program applicants do not need to attend an info session; however, they must meet with the Domestic Programs Advisor. Before scheduling an advising appointment, we ask students to fill out an International and Domestic Programs Advising Form. Please follow these steps to fill out an advising form:

  1. View the full list of Approved Programs.
    1. To search with parameters, visit our Program Search Tool.
      1. The page for Programs by Petition can be located by typing in “petition” to the program search bar.
  2. Select a program to visit the program brochure page. In the upper right-hand corner, click the “Request Advising” button.
  3. This will immediately take you to a login page, where you will enter your Pomona ID # and password. Once you are logged in, you will be prompted to fill out the International and Domestic Programs Advising Form.

Once you have completed the Advising Form, please email IDPO to schedule an advising session for you to discuss your goals, available programs, the application process, and any questions you may have.

Students interested in submitting a petition for a program that is not on our approved list should research the program thoroughly before the meeting and be prepared to provide details during the advising session.

*Claremont Colleges Consortium students should follow the instructions for Students from Other Claremont Colleges.
