About the College

Pomona College is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college established in 1887. Located in Claremont, California, 35 miles east of Los Angeles, Pomona is the founding member of The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of seven independent institutions. Pomona’s campus includes 60 buildings on approximately 140 acres.

With a student-faculty ratio of nine to one and an average class size of 14, Pomona students get to know the faculty well. Most courses are taught seminar style where discussion and debate provide the basis for learning. Students may select from over 40 majors or may design their own course of study.

Pomona’s 1,500 students hail from all 50 states as well as 26 foreign countries. During their four years here, students may choose to participate in any of the more than 280 campus organizations and activities. Pomona students pursue their academic and extra-curricular interests with equal enthusiasm, making Pomona an exciting and dynamic place.
