Visiting the Campus

The best way to gain a true appreciation for the qualities and opportunities that make this college unique is through a campus visit. We are always pleased to meet students and learn about their interests, and we welcome you to meet our students, visit our classes, and see the community here for yourself. The Pomona College Office of Admissions is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the year.

The office is also open Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from late September through early December, except Thanksgiving weekend. Please call to confirm Office of Admissions hours and the availability of appointments before making plans to visit Pomona College.

Visitors are welcome at any time of the year, although visiting when classes are in session will provide the most accurate view of campus life. We recommend avoiding the periods immediately before or after a break, or before or during final exams. We encourage visitors to allow a minimum of two hours for a tour and information session and additional time for an interview and to visit classes. Please make arrangements for interviews at least three weeks in advance; in particular, Saturday and holiday interview appointments fill quickly, as do appointments in December, as deadlines approach. Requests to stay overnight in a residence hall should be made two weeks in advance, and will be honored only for high school seniors and transfer applicants. For detailed information on visiting the campus, download a copy of the Pomona College Campus Visits brochure [pdf] .

On-Campus Tours

Student-led tours of the Pomona College campus are available whenever the Office of Admissions is open (see hours above). No appointment is necessary although tour times may vary by time of year. Please contact the Office of Admissions for specific times. Tours generally last one hour.

Information Sessions

Members of the Pomona College Admissions staff conduct group information sessions daily for interested students and parents. The sessions offer an overview of the College and its programs, followed by an informal question-and-answer period. No appointment is required. Please call the Office of Admissions for times, which may vary at different points in the year.

Class Visits

Prospective students who visit while the College is in session may be able to attend a class in an area of interest. The widest selection of classes is available in the morning, and relatively few classes are scheduled for Friday afternoon. Most classes range from 50 minutes to 90 minutes in length. Please view the Claremont Undergraduate Course Schedule to see what Pomona classes are on offer if you are visiting on a weekday during a fall or spring semester.
