Vickie Ramos’s professional experience in education, youth, and community
entails research, program design, policy development, and graduate work focused
on supporting “at-risk” communities. Additionally, she has spent several years
implementing policies and models for best practices in direct-service efforts in
California, Boston, and New York City. The focus of this work has included
education equity issues, educational tracking, English learners and bilingual
education, youth development, teen pregnancy prevention, parent and civic
engagement, and access to high-quality education for all students. Most
recently, Vickie has focused her work on community-based school reform efforts
with Claremont Graduate University, Families In Schools, and the Boyle Heights
Learning Collaborative. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff of the Office
of the Board Vice President at Los Angeles Unified School District.
Vickie received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Pomona College in 1998,
and her Educational Master’s degree from Harvard University in 1999. She is also
a co-founder of the Latino Alumni of Pomona College, and currently sits on the
Pomona College Alumni Board.
