Pat
grew up in Georgia and Northern California before coming to Claremont to attend
Pomona. As an undergraduate, he really wasn't all that aware of Pomona's Alumni
- after all this was the '60s and there were a few things going on...
After graduation and a year working for Senator Alan Cranston with fellow
classmates Pam Bryant and Donna Rowland, Pat went in the Army for a year. 22
years later he retired. Along the way he managed to attend some Alumni Weekends,
but didn't get to one for his own class until his 20-year reunion in 1991. On
his final assignment at the Pentagon, he started attending alumni functions in
the Washington, DC, area. A casual conversation with Dan Smith lead to Pat's
becoming the Chair for the Pomona alumni in the Washington area and he became
more and more involved with alumni activities in Washington and Claremont.
In 2002 Pat returned to California and had an opportunity to become even more
engaged with fellow alumni and Pomona. He started attending Alumni Weekends on a
regular basis and joined the Alumni Board two years ago. Along with Alumni Board
work, you can normally find him on Alumni Weekends running errands for Nancy and
Donna, along with worrying about the Frary Wine Tasting and the Wash. Pat lives
in Hermosa Beach with his wife Sherry and Smokey the Beach Cat.
