Chemistry |
|
The
Chemistry department at Pomona College, a member of the
Claremont Colleges invites applications for a position
beginning July 1, 2009. While we seek to hire at the rank of
Associate or Full Professor with tenure, candidates at the
Assistant Professor level with an exceptional record of
teaching and research, including publications and successful
grant writing will also be considered. Teaching
responsibilities will include introductory and advanced
courses in organic chemistry. Demonstrated expertise in NMR
Spectroscopy is highly desirable. The appointee will be
expected to initiate and sustain an externally funded
research program that involves active participation of
undergraduates. Excellent laboratory facilities and
significant start-up funds are available. Applicants should

Economics |
C01 Econometrics
and E0 Macroeconomics
Pomona College expects to make a full-time tenure-track
appointment at the assistant professor level to begin in
academic year 2009-10. We are interested in applicants who
specialize in empirical macroeconomics and are strong in
econometrics. They will be expected to teach both
undergraduate macroeconomics and econometrics. They are also
expected to have completed or be near completion of the
Ph.D. degree.
Pomona College, the founding member of the Claremont
Colleges, is an independent, coeducational liberal arts
college in Southern California with an enrollment of 1500
students. Classes are small and the teaching load is two
courses per semester. We have thirteen economists, and
another twenty-five within the other Claremont Colleges. The
department contributes significantly to several

from outstanding teacher/scholars with Ph.D. from an APA-accredited
program with an APA-accredited internship. Candidates are
sought with a commitment to teaching, ability to establish
an active research program that involves undergraduates, and
an interest in developing clinically related fieldwork
opportunities for undergraduates. Area of research
specialty is open. Course load is two courses per semester
and includes Abnormal Psychology, Seminar in Clinical
Psychology, Applications of Clinical Psychology, and

Physical Education |
The Physical Education
Department is currently accepting applications to fill an
instructor of Physical Education/Head Coach of Men’s and
Women’s Swimming and Diving vacancy with a preferred
starting date of August 1, 2008. This is an interim
position, and the successful candidate will be offered a one
year appointment. Responsibilities will include managing
all aspects of Pomona-Pitzer’s NCAA Division III men’s and
women’s swimming and diving programs and assigned
administrative duties, and may include teaching activity
classes in the physical education program. The department
is particularly interested in candidates who have experience
working with students from diverse backgrounds and a
demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher
education for underrepresented students.
Pomona and Pitzer Colleges are members of the Claremont
Colleges consortium located in Southern California,
approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles. The Pomona-Pitzer
Athletic Program consists of 20 intercollegiate teams and is
a founding member of the Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference. The Colleges have a combined
enrollment of 2,350 students.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in physical education or related field
2. Understanding of NCAA Division III philosophy
3. Appreciation for the role of athletics in small liberal
arts colleges with rigorous academic settings

The Pomona College Department of
Psychology invites applications for a one-year position in
clinical psychology for academic year 2008-09. Candidates
will have a PhD from an APA-accredited program. Teaching
experience required. A scientist-practitioner with a
research program is preferred. Ability to supervise student
research, senior theses, and field placements is essential.
Area of specialization is open. Knowledge of gender, class,
and ethnic minority issues in mental health is desirable.
