Timeline “A” (reviewers visit in fall semester) |

Early spring: The department chair/program coordinator meets with
the Associate Dean to go over expectations, procedures, and budget.
Spring semester: The department/program creates a list of 6-8
outside reviewers and sends it to the Associate Dean along with suggested visit
dates.
Spring semester: The department/program plans and holds a retreat
and/or meetings.
September: After framing the main issues for the
self-study, the department/program arranges a meeting with the Dean and
Associate Dean to discuss them. (This meeting may occur earlier if the
department/program prefers.)
October – early November: The department/program completes the
internal self-study document and gives copies to the Dean, the President, and
the external reviewers at least two weeks before the reviewers’ visit.
November – early December: The external reviewers visit campus,
usually for two days.
February – March: The Dean’s Office receives the external
reviewers’ report and forwards it to the department/program as well as the
President and other members of the administration for review.
March – April: The department/program responds as necessary to the
Dean and arranges a meeting with the Dean and Associate Dean to discuss the
report’s recommendations.
October or May of the next academic year: The chair/coordinator
reports on the review to the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board.
One year after completion of the self-study: The chair/coordinator
meets with the Dean to make a progress report. After the report has been
reviewed by the President and other administrators, the Dean then makes
recommendations for further action as appropriate.
