Department of Geology

Students will have the opportunity to:
- Observe and analyze the natural environment;
- Analyze complex systems over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales;
- Frame and address a scientific question;
- Be exposed to good habits of data collection and analysis;
- Digest and synthesize the technical literature;
- Apply quantitative reasoning and logic to problem solving;
- Develop the ability to use modern analytic methods and equipment;
- Be exposed to the importance of interdisciplinarity, e.g., the roles of
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Biology;
- Participate in collaborative problem solving; and
- Present scientific studies formally (orally and in writing).
