Neuroscience Student Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to independently:
- describe the major areas of Neuroscience and current topics within them
- demonstrate familiarity with basic neuroanatomy and nervous system
function on a molecular, cellular and systemic level
- read papers in the primary literature and
- recognize
- the research question being asked and its significance,
- the hypothesis being tested,
- the predictions being used to test the hypothesis
- evaluate
- the appropriateness of the experimental design
- the interpretation of the results
- identify
- an appropriate next step to take in this research
-
identify a topic of current interest, develop a hypothesis in this area
and design a research program to test this hypothesis
- present the results of a scientific experiment or a proposed experimental
design clearly in standard scientific written and oral formats
