About Your Room
South Campus Residence Halls |
North Campus Residence Halls
|
Pomona’s rooms vary from building to building and even
within each residence hall. There is no standard size,
shape, or layout. All rooms have overhead lighting and
closet space. Each room is equipped with one data port per
resident for access to Pomona’s Network and the Internet.
|
|
Phones |
 |
All residence hall rooms contain individual extension
outlets for connecting personal telephones. Students must
provide their own telephones. Telephone service is provided
for local calls. A calling card may be used for long
distance calls. Voicemail service is provided at no extra
charge.

|
Standard Room Furnishings |
| |
Each student is provided with a bed, dresser, desk, chair,
book shelf, recycling bin and waste basket.
|
|
Personal Furnishings |
| |
Although your room will be furnished with the items listed
above, a personal touch or two will make it more your own.
Students are not allowed to paint their rooms, but area
rugs, posters and small decorative items will make it feel
more like home. Students must bring their own sheets,
pillows, blankets, bedspreads and bath linens. The mattress
measurements are 38 in. by 80 in. (twin extra long).
Small refrigerators are allowed. Items not permitted in
rooms due to fire hazard and circuit overload are hot
plates, sun lamps, percolators (coffee machines), electrical
cooking equipment and window air conditioner units.

A few Useful Items to Bring |
|
- electric fan
- desk lamp
- power strips
- space saver units/modular storage
- stereo and headphones.
|
|
Laundry |
|
Washers and dryers are located in the residence halls and in
separate buildings close to the residence halls. The
majority of the machines are debit card operated, the
remainder are coin operated.
|
|
Room Cleaning |
|
Each student is responsible for the cleaning of his or her
room. The necessary equipment is available at the residence
hall desks. Students must provide their own linens.
|
|
Mail |
|
Each student will be assigned a mailbox number at Pomona.
Therefore there is no need to change addresses each summer,
re-route magazines, etc. To ensure proper delivery, the
address is important. The address should include the mailbox
number, street address of the Smith Campus Center, suite
number of the mail center, and the correct zip + four:

Pets |
|
The presence of animals in residence halls creates a
sanitation problem and may be offensive to other students
and staff. Under no circumstances are students permitted to
have cats or dogs in the residence halls. Only completely
and consistently caged, non-poisonous pets are permitted if
they do not adversely affect other residents and the owner
agrees to conditions of care and sanitation.

Vehicle Registration |
|
Campus Safety is responsible for campus traffic and parking
regulations. All parked vehicles must be registered with
Campus Safety and must display the appropriate hang-tag.
Vehicle registration is available to students during
business registration each semester; visitors must obtain a
temporary permit from the Campus Safety Office. Vehicle
registration can be done at the Campus Safety Office, 251 E.
11th Street, 24 hours a day.
