All students
applying to Oxford, Cambridge, or Kyoto will have a study
abroad interview. In the case of Oxford or Cambridge, this will be
conducted by an interview committee comprised of Pomona faculty. In the
case of Kyoto, interviews will be conducted by a representative from AKP on a
Saturday in late January or February each year.
Interviews may also be held
for certain programs which become internally competitive in any given semester
because of a limited number of spaces. Students applying to programs
which require interviews in a given semester will be
notified whether or not interviews will take place during
the week following the application deadline.
Additionally, faculty interviews may be held in a given semester for students
applying to other programs that are directly administered by Pomona College,
such as Cape Town-Globalization and London-Neuroscience.

How Should I Prepare for
My Interview? |
| |
The interview is an opportunity for you to make a persuasive case for studying
abroad. It is not an information session for your program. On the
contrary, it is expected that you have made your decision to apply for your
particular program and have solid reasons for doing so. The interview
committee will be looking for focus, commitment, preparation, and consideration
of your overall academic plan. Interview questions usually focus on two
things: 1) What interests you most about the country in which you
want to study? and 2) How does studying there fit in with your
larger academic and personal goals?
Additionally, you may wish to review the
Selection Process section of the Study Abroad Website to refresh yourself on
the criteria and selection.
|
| How Will I Be Notified of My Interview Date &
Time? |
| |
In scheduling interviews, we try, as much as is possible, to
plan around the academic and co-curricular commitments on
the Interview Scheduling Form in your Supplemental
Application. You will be notified of the date and time
or your interview via email after the application deadline.
Be sure to check your Pomona email account daily for
notification. Normally, interviews are conducted
on weekdays in the late afternoon and evening within three
weeks after the application deadline. Interviews will
last approximately 15 minutes each.
|
| Where Will
My Interview Take Place? |
| |
- All interviews will take place in the
OSA
- Be prompt!
- Since another interview may be in
