TRIALS Summer Study
Program
Harvard Law, NYU Law, and Advantage Testing Foundation
Trials is a unique partnership of NYU School of Law, Harvard Law School,
and the Advantage Testing Foundation. It is a fully subsidized summer
study program for students of modest means whose backgrounds are
currently underrepresented at the nation’s top law schools. The program
takes place at Harvard from July 13, 2009 to August 14, 2009. Students
will receive individualized instruction and coaching in preparation for
the LSATs, including several full-length official practice tests; attend
lectures by prominent lawyers, public figures, and legal scholars; and
meet with and observe lawyers at work, garnering practical experience
that complements the academic curriculum. For the two-part online
application, visit
http://trials.atfoundation.org/apply/process. Part I should
be completed as soon as possible, even if you have not yet finalized
your summer plans, and Part II must be completed by March 1, 2009.
For full information, visit

Practising Law Institute
Patent Law Information Session
Wednesday, February 25, 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Aviation Seminar Room - Hoch-Shanahan, HMC
If you have (or will soon have) a degree in engineering, computer
sciences, or the hard sciences (chemistry, biology, physics and related
disciplines), you can take the Patent Bar Exam to become a Patent Agent.
Patent agents usually make about $10,000 a year more than similarly
situated engineers and scientists. The Exam is available virtually
on-demand via computer. Becoming a patent agent can also be a step
toward the even more lucrative career of becoming a Patent Attorney.
If this sounds intriguing, come join Practising Law Institute (PLI) for
a presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI's Director of Law School Relations
and a Director of their Patent Bar Review Course. Topics for discussion
include careers for patent agents (what the work is like and where you
find it), and the latest info on the Patent Bar Exam (who can take it,
how it works, and recommendations on how to study for this very
difficult exam).
